Book Review: Elements by Bob Franquiz
I have been promising a review of this book since I got it, so here goes. I go in spurts with reading. There are times where I literally read a couple of books a week, then I get bored and quit reading for a year. Not reading in about a year is where I have been but, I started reading again in January. I’m now back in the zone.
Anyway, I started Bob’s book in January and was done in two days. I have always been a freak about John the Baptist. I dig cat’s that don’t fit the norm and tell it like it is. The problem with liking John is there are very few books on the subject out there. In this book, Bob does a great job of looking at aspects of his life that I never thought about.
The chapter on Baptism is GREAT. I am actually preaching a lot of it this week. I was so impacted by the book that we actually started a teaching series this week called Revolution based on the life of John the Baptist.
Bob does a good job of holding your attention and I imagine reading him is like listening to him speak. He does a good job of mixing bible with stories so that is cool to me. His stories are so relevant that it actually was weird reading something so new. I wonder how those stories will hold up to someone reading it ten years from now?
I judge most books by two things:
1.) Does it challenge me?
2.) Can I preach it? ![]()
In this case it was “yes” to both.
I recommend you checking it out, it is worth it.
