Great Weekend

I have had some I rarely have and that is a real weekend. As much as I wanted to go in on Friday (our day off) I didn’t do it and then today I had a actual Saturday off without having a sermon in the back of my head all day. Preston is teaching tomorrow and he is going to be awesome. I needed the break. I have taught every Sunday since June and my brain is fried. I am looking forward to coming to church tomorrow and worshiping with everyone with a Sunday off from teaching.

Don’t get me wrong I LOVE what I do and there is NOTHING I would rather do but staying fresh and relevant every week takes its toil on you. I teach about 47 weeks out of the year and as we grow and get more staff who can teach I will cut that down to about 42 weeks a year. Taking a break from teaching allows me to study ahead, get caught up with everything at the office (believe it or not, I work more then one day a week), do some reading, and give my brain some much needed rest.

I got to work this last week on our December series called Super Heroes and I am pretty excited about! This last week I also got to work on Christmas Eve. Let me tell you right now that you do NOT want to miss our Christmas Eve service this year. We will doing two identical services to accommodate the crowd and it is going to be awesome! If you have a friend or family member who is not a Christian do whatever takes to get them to church on this Sunday! It is going to be off the hook.

I also can’t wait for all of you to see our Christmas Eve advertisements that will be coming out. It will make the Christians in the area furious and it will make the rest of Canton laugh like they haven’t in a long time!

See ya in the morning!

Project 9-6-1

Yep I made sure I had my radio tuned to 96.1 this morning to hear the death of 96rock and see what they had up their sleeves. I have to admit, so far so good. I was acting like a person who attends most churches and gets upset when things change even though they really need to change.

At 9 a.m. 96rock became Project 9-6-1 and they started off with Enter Sandman. Good start!

Beware Bad Guys!

Found out that I get to ride around on a Friday night with one of our cops! I’m pretty stoked about it and I hope I see some good stuff. I was a little freaked out when I found out I have to go sign a release that says if I got shot I won’t sue but that’s okay…..as long as I don’t GET shot.

Two More Stoners Who Blog….

General — Gary Lamb on November 17, 2006 at 8:36 am

Last week I shared with you here a few of our RSC people who blog. Well I have come across two more of our awesome people who have blogs going.

Mandy Harrison - One of the funniest people at The Stone. She makes me laugh every Sunday even though here humor normally means she is making fun of my shirts. :) Plus she is a rocker who loves Guns N Roses so she is top notch to me.

Jennifer Popps - Jennifer and her husband Bill have been coming for about 2 months now and they rock. She is another rocker who LOVES music and she is a great cook!!! Her husband Bill is the AD and baseball coach at Reinhardt College and is a cool dude. They got a baby on the way too so the baby trend continues through them here at Ridge Stone.

RIP 96rock!

My boy Charlie just broke my heart with the news that 96rock is done. 96rock is first station I ever listened too. Growing up it was the station that was THE rock station in Atlanta. A few years ago it turned to classic rock and it was still my primary station. Tomorrow it it no more.

The good news is they are moving Buzz 105.3 over but I think they should still call it 96rock. The buzz is the only modern rock station in Atlanta so if 96 had to die, I am at least glad the Buzz is taking it over.

Georgia vs. Clemson?

General — Gary Lamb on November 15, 2006 at 8:00 pm

Could it be true?
I am hearing a lot of buzz that is Georgia beats Tech and if Clemson beats South Carolina that it could be the Dawgs against the Tigers in the Peach Bowl.

That would so stinking sweet. Can you imagine the smack talking I would have to be slinging Perry’s way?

Please Lord let it happen!

Watch what I say?

Took my mom out to eat last night and found out she reads my blog!!! Guess I will have to watch what I say from here on out….NOT!!!!

She knows me better then anyone and TRUST me when I say that there is very little that I can say that surprises her.

I actually have a pretty hip mom. She works for a large mega-church and her and pops run Celebrate Recovery which is a addiction program. She has found her niche and I am happy for them. It is funny because the church she works at runs about 7,000 she thinks I pastor this tiny struggling church that is barely making it. She is coming to Christmas Eve and I’m sure we will freak her out! It will be fun.

Our next series is called Super Heros and it is going to be off the chain! I am pretty pumped up about looking at the true Super Heros of the church. It starts the first week in December and you don’t want to miss it!

I thought you would like this picture of my two little Super Heroes!

Okay I am about to lose it. I sat down to watch Prison Break tonight and EVERY channel on our cable is working EXCEPT Fox. I have counted to 10, I have responded with a gentle answer, and I have walked away BUT it still isn’t working!!!!!!!!!

Please pray for me as I have a nervous breakdown. :)
