Standing Firm At 30….

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

At one time I was subscribed to about 120 blogs through bloglines.

I know that seems like a lot BUT remember they don’t all update at the same time and remember that I only had to go to bloglines and scan through them. :)  Anyway, in January I decided I had to manage my time better and one of the things I did was decide to only subscribe to 30 blogs.  I had to cut 90 blogs out of my list.  THAT WAS HARD!   However, it was a great decision.

The tough part comes when I add new ones, I have to decide if I am willing to cut one of the old ones for it.  Tonight I added two new blogs and I had to cut two old favorites but that is the way it goes.

Easter Mailer

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Easter

Shout out to O2GraphicDesign for again coming up with what we think is a  home run  mailer.

This mailer will hit this week in Canton, Ball Ground, Waleska, and Holly Springs.  We broke A LOT of our rules on this mailer but we think it was funny so we went with it.  We have NEVER used pastels, we have NEVER used stock photos, we have NEVER had something as feminine as this but we think the punch line will make DUDES laugh like crazy!!!

Pray as they hit mailboxes this week!!!

R.I.P

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Well, after 10 years of ownership, our dryer died. :(  She served us well for 10 years but it would have cost as much to get it fixed as it would have been to buy a new one.  We are in getting out of debt mode so charging it wasn’t an option.  It is amazing how that is your first instinct….

We had set aside an emergency fund and I have to admit it was the best feeling in the world to walk into the store today and pay cash for the purchase.  :)

NOW, I got to build the emergency fund back up.

Watching God Do HIS thing…

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

After our Easter series, we are launching a series called “Hell? NO!”  I straight up stole this series after listening to Perry teach a message where he mentioned this phrase.  I laughed so hard that I ended up not noticing the speed I was going and I got a $225 speeding ticket. :(

During this series I am going to tell you where we are headed as a church and HOW we are going to accomplish it.  I am as excited about this series as anything we have ever done.  What we will be doing is going to stretch us like never before.  What we are going to do is not going to be understood by many people!  What we are doing to do is going to draw people like crazy telling us we can’t accomplish it!

The thing is God never called us to play it safe.  Go Big OR Go Home!  I have lived by that thought process since we started the church and we aren’t going to stop now.

It has been amazing to watch God ALREADY putting people in place for the vision he has given us.  Last night at membership class, I had three very important connections and I am pumped up about them!!!!!

Hang on RSC it is about to crazy!!!!

Cool as the other side of the pillow….and ADD

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Ashlyn and Avery went to a Easter Egg Hunt yesterday and neither one was that much into it. :)

Avery is just like DeAnna.  He is a cool, quiet cat.  The kids started running after eggs and he simply decided he was to cool for that so he just strolled around like a pimp and picked up a few eggs.  DeAnna said it was pretty funny how lame he thought the egg hunt was.  He is 2.

Ashlyn is JUST like me.  So she was super pumped about the hunt.  She couldn’t sleep the night before, drove DeAnna crazy on the way to the hunt then after the hunt started she got bored about 30 seconds into it and moved on to something else.  Her ADD kicked in big time and she was done with it. :)

I got the only kids in America who aren’t into chasing down plastic eggs.

Rapping Skills Paying Off…

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Tonight was the second membership class we have had since our Rap Video we did for Christmas that gained us some national attention.  At the beginning of our class we always ask people to introduce themselves and tell us how they discovered the church.  I would estimate we have had 30-40 people join the church after coming for the first time through that stupid video.

That is amazing to me.

Bringing IT!

Friday, March 30th, 2007

We called an audible this week so I had to work overtime on the message and I just finished it up.  Needless to say I am bringing it HARD this week!  Spring break starts today and it seems like half the church and our volunteers are out of town but for the half that is going to be there, hold on tight. :)

Membership Class Tonight!!!!

Friday, March 30th, 2007

We are holding our membership class tonight at The Warehouse and I am pumped up about it!  Malcolm does a GREAT job with the class and I love just hanging out with all the people who are taking the next step with The Stone.  It is awesome.

I start every class with simply giving the history and vision of RSC and then Malcolm does his thing and I get to hang out and do nothing!!!!  I love my job. :)

Tonight we are changing things up.  In the past we have catered in dinner for the class but we are scaling back now and doing desserts and coffee.  Jocks and Jill is providing the desserts tonight so trust me they will be off the hook!!!!  I don’t do coffee but we are bringing in Starbucks for tonight and that seems to make everyone happy!

If you haven’t been through our membership class yet, you are missing out!  The next one is in May so contact Malcolm about signing up.

Church Planting Coaching Network

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

I had a very cool conversation today with David Putman and Shawn Lovejoy today about their coaching networks that are starting up.  Looks like I am going to be doing some coaching with them!!!!

Anyone who knows me, knows I am BIG on coaching.  I have been involved in coaching networks from day ONE of our church plant and I 100% feel they have had a huge impact on our church.

If you are in the Southeast, I would STRONGLY encourage you to think about joining one of this networks.  You can’t do it alone and having those ahead of you in the game is HUGE!

Roundtable…

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Had a very fun day today.  I love hanging out with church planters.  I hope they found it to be worth their while.  We LEARNED a ton of things that we will do different next time.  For one, we are not going to call it a roundtable because I found out today that I don’t discuss good, I just talk a lot. :)

To all you guys who came out let me say THANK YOU!  I hope it was worth your time and remember if there is anything we can do for you guys, let us know!
