Things must change as you grow….

I am learning that the staffing, structure, and systems (3 s’s, that would make a baptist preacher smile) MUST change as the church grows OR the church will not grow. We have grown in Sunday morning attendance by about 200 people since January YET our systems, staffing, and structure have not changed any.

In the last few weeks those things have caught up with us and if not changed they will become a hinderence to the mission and vision of RSC. I have been meeting with a lot of pastors lately, reading a lot, and praying a lot about what changes must be made as we focus in on the 1,000 barrier.

Times of transition are exciting, scary, and even sad as you realize some people you started with might not be able to take the next step with you. I have always been an open book on this blog about our church in hopes that it helps other planters so in the next week or so, I am going to share with you how we are making changes to get us to the next level and be more effective as a staff and as a church.

Staffing, Structure, and Systems must NEVER be the bottleneck for growth. As pastors we must constantly be tweaking and evaluating those areas. The 3 s’s that got you to 500 will not get you to 1,000.  What got you to 1,000 will not get you to 2,500 and so one.  Just as your car needs a tune up from time to time, so does the church you are pastoring IF it is growing and you want it to continue to grow.

I will be posting those thoughts on our Backstage blog so check it out in the next few days and if you are not subscribed to it, get subscribed. :)
