Know your mission….

Just Thinking Outloud…..

I have been thinking a lot about planting churches and The Stone’s role in doing it. I have to be real honest, I don’t feel Ridge Stone is called to be a Church Planting Church. There are some churches that feel this call and do a GREAT job at it but I don’t feel the call or the desire to do it.

However, I do feel the call to be a church that helps church planters.

That might seem the same but I think there is a huge difference. I would give a planter the shirt off my back. I will meet with them, allow them to use anything we have, make our staff available to them, etc. We will even financially support church planters with who we feel led to do so with. I count it an HONOR that we partner with Tadd. I told another family we have in Acworth about JR Lee today. I love to partner with planters, but as far as being a church that is bringing planters on staff, fully funding them, and sending them out, being part of a group that is planting churches, I just don’t think that will be our role.

I think every church needs to know their mission and we have to be careful not to put our “call” on other churches.  Just because we aren’t sending out church planters doesn’t diminish our desire to see churches planted.  I would actually like to see a church that is our age that spends more of thier time and finances on church planting?  I know there are a lot out there that do a lot but I think we hold our own.

No real point to this other then I wanted to get my thoughts down where I can remember them later. :)
