There are NO rules in church planting…
It is funny how we will read every book, attend every conference, and meet with every person we can to figure how to be more effective at pastoring the church we started. Don’t get me wrong, all those thing are great, but I am learning that there are NO rules in church planting. Trends and the “way things are supposed to be” don’t always happen that way.
Our yesterday was a perfect example of this:
- On a holiday weekend, we had the largest attendance we have had this fall
- On a holiday weekend, we had the highest offering in the history of our church
- We committed to 50 thanksgiving boxes for MUST Ministries and our people came through with around 125
- I preached a sermon that I put together only about 10 hours before teaching it and we ran out of CD’s and our email has been slammed with people talking about how much they needed the message
- We didn’t do ANY creative elements and yet the service rocked
- We are growing at a time when most churches aren’t
The longer I am in this thing called church planting the more I am learning that you never figure it out. That is what keeps it fun.
