So tired, I can’t sleep

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

I swore I would be in bed by 7:30 tonight BUT I can’t sleep.  My body is worn out, my voice is SHOT, but I can’t sleep.  So here I sit blogging and watching Law and Order.  Everytime I close my eyes, my mind starts racing with all the insane things we have to do to reach this city!!!!!!

Luckily, I get to sleep late because I ain’t getting to the office until about lunch time.  I figure the phone will be ringing off the hook (wait for the story, it is coming) so I will let the storm hit first. :)

Sunday Night Mind Dump

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008
  • Where do I start?
  • This has been THE craziest weekend of my life.  I mean THE craziest.
  • Our Good Friday services were very cool.  I love the small space at the warehouse and it was cool to peel back all the glitz and glamor and just do a chilled thing.
  • In case you didn’t know it, we did a small Easter Egg Drop yesterday. :)
  • The police estimate around 12,000 people showed up to the egg drop and another 5,000 people didn’t make it in.  Yes, you read those numbers right.
  • It was insane, I literally mean insane.
  • YES, we’ll probably do it again……IF someone will let us.  Except next year we are dropping 250,000 eggs!!!!!!
  • I need to give it another day or two, but I will post in detail everything that happened by Wednesday.  Trust me, it will be worth the wait.
  • Today was one of the most incredible days in the history of our church!  Around 1400 in attendance and around 20 people accepted Christ as their personal Savior!!!
  • The stage design was freaking incredible.  Honestly, it was the most over the top thing I have ever seen in a portable church.  I will have pictures soon.
  • The band was insane.
  • We had a ton of new moving lights today and there were awesome.  Mark Sheldon is doing an incredible job with those.
  • When I walked in today and saw a catwalk stretching out over the crowd I flipped out!  That was off the hook!
  • I am so proud of our staff.  They worked HARD last week, the last few weeks and it showed this weekend.  If you are part of Revolution, take some time this week to let them know how much you appreciate all they do.
  • I am shocked at how little stress there was in the office this week.  That wouldn’t have been the case in the past.  It is a nice change.
  • Revolution Volunteers.  What can I say?  You guys are amazing.  Honestly, you are amazing.  I have NEVER seen a group of people like you in my life.
  • I hear an UPrising starts new Sunday night!  Students, you don’t want to miss this night!
  • I slipped on my diet the last few days.  Back on it hard tomorrow.
  • This upcoming Sunday we have some things planned that could rival today.
  • It was so exciting having people introduce me to their ONE today.  Very cool.
  • I couldn’t stop laughing at all our guys in pastels today.  Very funny.
  • Preston became a big boy this week.  I have NEVER been more proud of him as I was this week!  He made things happen.
  • We had volunteers get to the theater at midnight after being at the egg drop ALL day and stay until after we tore down today.  I told you they were amazing.
  • If we maintain attendance anywhere close to today, we are going to have to figure out how to stagger services in other theaters to make room.
  • Why does the Easter Bunny bring things that make noise?  He should only be allowed to bring quiet things.
  • It is 5:30 and I will be in bed in less than 2 hours.
  • HE is alive!

Canton Egg Drop

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

I know a lot of you are coming here looking for an update on our egg drop and all I can say is you will have to wait. I am still processing everything. I will say this: It was the most awesome thing we have ever done. It was the most prepared we have ever been for something. It was the most insane thing we have ever done.

To all of you who volunteered and made it happen I want you to know how awesome I think you are! I have NEVER been more proud to be your pastor than I am today. You guys are awesome!

Now, I am going to get ready for tomorrow and what promises to be an incredible day at Revolution Church!

Some last minute news love…

#1 Questions

Friday, March 21st, 2008

We have three events coming up this weekend and there have been a lot of questions so I thought I would list the #1 question for each event and answer it here for you.

Good Friday Service Question:

Can you bring your children?  Yes.  The service is going to be one hour exactly and we don’t have a place at the warehouse for childcare so you are welcome to bring the rug rats.

Easter Egg Drop Question:

How will the eggs not break?  Not sure.  We’ve been told they won’t, but if they do the candy is individually wrapped so it will still be awesome!

Easter Sunday Question:

What do you wear to Revolution on Easter?  We get this one every year for some reason. You can wear whatever you like.  There will be a couple of men whose wives MAKE them wear ties and that is fine.  Yes, I will make fun of them.  I will be wearing some jeans and a shirt and probably some flops.  Wear whatever you would like.

Good Friday Service

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

This Friday (March 21st) we are having our first ever Good Friday service.  We went back and forth on this.  We already have so much going on this weekend that we figured we didn’t need to add anything else to the calendar.  BUT, we also felt because we have so much going on this weekend that we HAD to start the weekend in worship, prayer, and taking Communion together.

It is going to be a VERY chilled vibe.  Tim and Thad are going to lead some umplugged worship, we are going to share communion together and we are going to finish the evening by breaking up for prayer all over the Warehouse.  It is going to be awesome!

We are having two services.  The first one is 6:30 p.m. and the second one is 8:00 p.m.  The 6:30 service is full, but there is space available at 8:00.  All you have to is show up.  We are even being slack on our children’s policy and letting your bring kids, so you have no excuse for not attending. :)

Join us at The Warehouse tomorrow night!

The Warehouse is located off Exit 19 in the Canton-Cherokee Industrial Park.  It is right behind the the Canton Library and the right across the street from Hasty Elementary School.  Just look for the signs.

Praying For Other Churches

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I am sure it is this way in all types of churches, but there are times that I feel the way we are doing church (not that is the only way to do church) is so different that you just feel an instant connection and brotherhood with those who are doing the same thing. God has blessed us in North Georgia with some GREAT churches that I feel very connected with, guys who are doing church that is trying everything in it’s power to reach those far from God, so I thought I would throw their names out there so all of you who call Revolution home can pray for these guys as well. They need your prayers ALWAYS, but Easter is crazy so I am sure they would appreciate some extra prayers this week!

Along with praying for these guys, I would encourage you to notice where they are located and if you have family, know someone, or work with someone in the areas where these guys are INVITE those people to check what these guys are doing!

J.R. Lee - Freedom Church - Acworth, Ga.

Tony McCollum - Fusion Church - Suwanee, Ga.

Shawn Lovejoy - Mountain Lake Church - Cumming, Ga.

Michael Lukaszewski - Oak Leaf Church - Cartersville, Ga.

Steven Gibbs - Stonecreek Church - Alpharetta, Ga.

Scott Whitaker - Stone Point Church - Newnan, Ga.

Ritchie Miller - Avalon Church - McDonough, Ga.

Brian Bloye - West Ridge Church - Hiram, Ga.

Danny Echols - Crossview Church - Rockmart, Ga.

Jim Carpenter - Compass Church - Athens, Ga.

Matt Evans - Rock Bridge Church - Dalton, Ga.

Man, just writing that list got me freaking jacked up!!! I forget how awesome God is moving throughout our state! I am sure there are other GREAT churches that I left off that list, but those are the guys I hang with on a regular basis and those are the ones that popped in my mind.

LIFT THOSE THOSE GUYS UP IN PRAYER THIS WEEK!
