I guess I am healthy….

Family — Gary on September 22, 2007 at 2:55 pm

I have shared with you how crazy my wife is.  She has turned amish since I married her and is an organic eating health nut.  So since she has been on this kick, she has started shopping at Harry’s Farmers Market.  Harry’s is this place where everything they sell is local, organic, yada, yada.

I have avoided going because I figured it was a bunch of yuppie healthy people.

So I went today and was shocked.  Seriously if that is what it means to be healthy then call me healthy.  People were buying tons of this weird food and they were all fat like me. :)  So I guess eating healthy doesn’t help you lose weight.  Good to know.

Harry’s was cool.  The largest amounts of samples I have ever seen in my life!!  Tons of GREAT looking things to eat and the coolest thing was these huge things of peanuts and you pushed a button and fresh peanut butter came out.  I made peanut butter out of honey roasted peanuts and it will make you slap your mother, it is so good.

Then I tried one that was peanuts, almonds, and chocolate chips!  Holy crap, it was good.

I think I am going to enjoy shopping healthy. :)

Practicing what I preach….

Family — Gary on September 6, 2007 at 5:16 pm

I am always telling the church that married couples need time away without the kids. So the yesterday until Saturday, I am practicing what I preach and it has been awesome!!!! We woke up around 9 today, ate lunch overlooking the ocean, read some, laid out on the beach and slept, and now at 5:30 p.m. DeAnna is taking a nap!!! The time away has been awesome and we haven’t even been here 24 hours yet. Seriously, these things will keep you married.

I will be so relaxed and well rested Sunday that I might preach about 2 hours each service. :)

Vacation!

Family — Gary on September 4, 2007 at 9:14 pm

I left the office early today and took the family to the Braves game.  It was a blast!  We have a great family in the church with season tickets and we had great seats, parking passes, and the kids had a great time.  It was their first game.

Then tomorrow, DeAnna and I get up and head to Florida until Saturday!!!!  The best part is there are no kids going!!!  I LOVE my kids but I am so looking forward to time with my wife.  I have preached over 30 Sundays in a row and I am tired.  I took several Sundays off this summer and instead of taking off, I preached at other places.  I enjoyed it but I am tired.  I really didn’t realize how tired I was until today when I was off.  I feel like I hit a brick wall.  I’m looking forward to the the time away and I am looking forward to teaching on Sunday as we kick off our new series called All In.

I might post some this week but don’t count on it. :)

Oh no! We are THOSE people….

Family — Gary on August 16, 2007 at 1:07 pm

It has occured to me that DeAnna and I have turned our family into those crazy people I said I would never become!  Be careful what you make fun of because you might become it is the lesson I have learned.

At the age of 31 here is what we have become:

  • We went and picked up a whole cow today that is 100% grass fed.  Why?
  • We ordered a 100% corn fed pig.  Why?
  • We drink only 100% raw milk and drive all the way to South Carolina to get it.
  • DeAnna bakes her own bread.
  • We home school our children.
  • DeAnna buys most of our fruits and vegatables at the Farmers Market.
  • We own a mini-van.

No, we are not amish.  :)  We just have issues, I guess.  I like to convince myself we are still a hip, cool young married couple, but I have become convinced we simply are a lot of things and hip and cool is NOT one of them.

I’m depressed…. :)

Pray for my old man….

Family — Gary on July 30, 2007 at 5:52 am

My mom called and they had to take my dad to the ER for what might be the most gross, disgusting, disturbing thing I have ever heard of in my life.  I literally wanted to vomit when she was telling me on the phone.  Trust me, if you were a dude, you would have felt the same way.

I appreciate your prayers for him.

Ugh….

Family — Gary on July 13, 2007 at 5:49 am

Woke up about 4 this morning wide awake!!!!!  Got up and read a little in Samuel, did a little praying, looked over my sermon, and checked out some blogs I missed while camping.  I hate not sleeping.

Today the camping trip continues with the resetting up of the tent and other stuff where I can hose it off and get all the mud off of everything that is filthy from the rain and mud splatting on it.

Camping is a lot of work.

You STINK at praying :)

Family — Gary on July 12, 2007 at 7:29 pm

I asked all of you to pray for me on Monday as I was taking the family camping for the first time.  Either you prayed wrong or you just stink at praying!!! :)  We got there Tuesday and it started raining and it stopped last night about 3 in the morning.  When I say rain, I mean it down poured.  I thought we were in a drought but I think it is over!!!!

Here are my thoughts on camping:

  • I actually really liked it.
  • I hate Tadd. :)  He had no faith in my camping skills
  • It rained non-stop!!!!
  • Lake water sucks!  Why would people want to get that stuff to swim?
  • Did I mention it rained?
  • I couldn’t get a fire started.
  • Have you ever heard of ribs with cherry Jell-O rubbed on them before you grilled them?  I hadn’t either.
  • If you are Independent Baptist that is totally cool.  BUT why would you go camping if your wife and daughters have to wear denim skirts to your ankles the whole time?
  • Also how come your wife and daughters have to “cover up” in long sleeve shirts and skirts but your son and you can run around in nothing but swim trunks?
  • A raccoon  got in our cooler at night and ate our watermelon, cheese, and eggs.  He then closed the cooler.  Stupid but smart raccoon.
  • I couldn’t cook on the grill because I couldn’t get the fire going.
  • Thank God for an air mattress.
  • Not into the whole community shower thing.
  • Not into the TP in the bathrooms either.
  • Loved hearing the crickets at night.
  • Loved sitting around with no computer
  • Loved seeing my kids have a blast!!!
  • Loved climbing rocks with them.
  • Loved the darkness at night.
  • I’m glad to be home, but we will be doing it again soon, I think.

Gone 4 The Week…

Family — Gary on July 9, 2007 at 10:10 am

Well, I am getting ready for our first family camping trip.  I am actually looking forward to it but I got to be honest and say I am not sure I can make it. :)

Got a tent

Got a air mattress

Got a cooking thingy

Got some pot and pans

Got some food

Got a fishing pole for Avery.  I assume I won’t need one because he is three and I figure I will be using his for him.  Pray we catch a fish.  I think he would be down with that.

We head back home Friday so pray for us and don’t miss Sunday, it is going to be off the hook!!!

Come Home!!!

Family — Gary on July 6, 2007 at 7:46 am

DeAnna, Ashly, Avery, come home!!!!!!!

I can’t take it anymore.  I have played xBox until 3 in the morning every night.  I tried to run the dishwasher but I have been too lazy to unload it.  I washed some clothes and left them in the washer for two days and they soured or something because they stunk!  I rewashed them and they seem back to normal.

I’m sick of crappy food, I am sick of the house being quiet, and I am actually sick of the kids NOT waking me up at the crack of dawn.

I’m even sick of music!!!!  I have done nothing but play video games and listen to music!

COME HOME!!!!! :)

This Stinks!

Family — Gary on July 3, 2007 at 9:31 pm

Okay, DeAnna and the kids have been gone since Friday and I am officially over it.  I miss my wife, I miss my kids, I am bored out of my mind, the house it way too quiet, and I want them back home. :)

I will never understand why people want to be single.

I have ate nothing but crappy food.

I have played The Godfather on my Xbox until I am starting to think I am The Godfather.

I have worked until 9 every night.

I am out of clean clothes.

I don’t have any of that soap stuff for the dishwasher.

I’m sick of TV.

The house at night is creepy when you are alone.

They won’t  be back until Saturday, maybe Sunday.  I am never going to survive.
