We started Revolution Church to impact Canton, Ga. It really is that plain and simple. we feel called to this city and we won’t rest until it is reached with the message of Jesus Christ.

That said, we have done some pretty crazy things to create buzz since we started and we have done a pretty good job at it if I do say so myself. So we thought this year we would follow the lead of some of our friends and we do a easter egg hunt….Revolution style.

We decided if we were going to do it, we were going BIG. We rented Boling Park and decided we were going to drop 50,000 eggs from a helicopter. Instead of just a egg drop, we decided we would bring in a ton of inflatables, give away some GREAT prizes, and create the biggest event Canton has ever seen.

We started planning this event around Christmas time. We spend hours planning, preparing, talking to others who had done it, meeting to improve it, going over our plans, etc. Hundreds of our people volunteered to help and we were ready.

Fast forward to this past Saturday.

Our people started showing up at 5:30 to prepare for registration opening at 10 a.m. When I pulled into the park at 7, I was blown away by how many of our people were there rocking volunteer shirts. It was awesome.  Honestly, everything was in place and ready to go by 7:30 a.m. which turned out to be a good thing because though registration didn’t start until 10 a.m., we had the first person show up to register at 7:45.  This was a sign of things to come.

By 8:00 there was a STEADY stream of people coming to register.  By 9:30 (30 minutes before we were going to start registering) a police officer told me we were around 5,000 people.  No big deal was the thought I had going through my head.  The park we were having the event in has decent parking, right above it is Cherokee High School, the Armory, a bowling alley, the DMV, a skate park, and a ton of other smaller places that are closed on Saturday.  We figured we had parking for around 6,000.  ALL the parking lots were full, overflowing, parking in the grass full by 10.  At this time I started getting a little worried, but not much.

Over the next hour things got crazy.  We literally, I mean literally backed up Riverston Pkwy (the main road in town) up BOTH ways to the interstate and out onto the interstate.  The two lane road turned into a four lane road and people were going crazy.  They started parking in people’s yards, they started leaving their cars on the side of the road and walking, they started parking at stores 3 and 4 miles away and walked to the park.  IT WAS INSANE.

It was at this time we decided we couldn’t keep up with registration so we shut it down and just decided to let people in.  At this point EVERYTHING was fine.  I was actually shocked at how awesome everyone was being, how organized we appeared to be, and just the overall atmosphere.  THINGS were awesome.  They were crowded and you could barely move, but things were awesome and they were going fine.

At 10:45 we allowed people to cross the bridge to the field.  It took probably 30 minutes for this to happen.  Yet, things were great.  The field was huge and things were fine.  Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined what was about to happen………

Let the fun begin!!!!!!  Yesterday we were given a full page in the Cherokee Tribune and today I just logged onto the AJC (THE Atlanta paper) and we were on the front of the home page!  You can read that article here.

On top of the TWO newspaper articles this week, things have been off the charts!  7 or 8 elementary schools passed out our invite cards to EVERY child in the school!!!!!!  The Around Canton ad hit this past week which goes to 16,000 homes.  The cards are being handed out at Chik-fil-a in Canton (We have already taken them ANOTHER thousand), and next week 50,000 direct mail pieces will be hitting mailboxes all over Cherokee County!!!!!

We’ve always figured if we were going to do something we might as well do it as BIG, as INSANE, and with as much BUZZ as possible.  So far, so good……

Let me tell you a lesson we have learned after 3 years of outsourcing graphics, web design, etc.  Finding someone who actually meets a deadline is hard!!!!

This is the reason, I LOVE Factor 1 Studios.  Matt and the crew over there have gone above and beyond for us.  They launched our website in a SUPER short period and totally did everything we asked.  Then last week he put RevolutionaryLove.tv together for us in literally two days.  It still has some small tweaks, but he bailed us out of a huge jam and we apprecaite it.  I think it looks GREAT!!!!!

Not only do they do what they say they are going to do, there stuff looks as good as anyone out there and there prices can’t be met.  If you are looking for someone to help with your web stuff, give these guys a chance and I promise you will be pleased.

Next Sunday (September 9th) we are launching what I think could be the biggest series we have ever done at Revoluton Church!!!! We are pulling out all the stops for this series and really hitting on some issues that people are dealing with.  Last week and this week we have been giving out poker chips that have the series name, start date, and website on them.  We have two billboards going up this week, we will have blackjack tables set up in the lobby, the stage set-up looks incredible, we have some awesome man on the street interviews we did in Vegas, and to kick of the series we have a VERY special guest coming (trust me, you never thought you would see this person in church).

We are going to be looking at the following topics:

• What to do when life deals you a bad hand?
• How live an All In life?
• Four of a kind is hard to beat.
• Is God Bluffing?  Get your friends here for the entire series but do WHATEVER it takes to get them here this day as we will be presenting the Gospel in one of the most relevant, creative, and clearest was you have ever seen.

On top of this we are pulling off the biggest community event we have EVER done in the history of our church.  The last week of the series we are hosting the ALL IN TEXAS HOLD-EM TOURNAMENT!!!!!  Yes, you read that right.  We are hosting a HUGE Texas hold-em tournament.  We will be holding the tournament at Jocks N Jills (the owners go to our church, so eat there. ) and along with them we have had several awesome places partner with us in the tournament.  The sponsors are Jocks n Jills, Around Canton Magazine, Jyl Craven Salon, Mark III customs, Premier Heating and Air, Cornerstone Media, and Canton Chevrolet!!!!!!  To reserve you spot at the table is $50 and 100% OF ALL THE MONEY  that comes in  is going to the Cherokee Children’s Shelter!!!!  We are planning on writing them a check between 10 and 15 grand!!!!!!!!!!!  Around Canton has already written an article about it, I am sure the local newspapers will be writing about it, and the local churches are already in an uproar!  I can’t wait for the opportunity to serve our community by giving back and have fun doing it!!!!

We decided to change our name THREE weeks ago, hired them TWO weeks ago and the website is 90% live and up on a hidden page waiting for us to add content!!!!!  Matt and crew there went above the call of duty and pulled the page out in a BIG time way.

A lot of times when you outsource different things it is hard for the person you are outsourcing the work with to understand exactly what you are thinking.  When I say Matt NAILED what we were looking for, I mean he NAILED it.  What we pictured in our mind is exactly what he pulled out.

Every time we do a mailer, the Christians come out in droves calling and e-mailing us to let us know how awful we are.

I totally understand if you don’t dig our stuff but what I don’t understand is how rude and angry you get!!!  Get a freaking life!  If a mailer with a fat lady in a bunny outfit makes you that mad, you have bigger issues then the mailer.

So here is the deal, if you don’t like it fine.  However, be nice to Cheri when you call because she didn’t have anything to do with the mailer.

Shout out to O2GraphicDesign for again coming up with what we think is a  home run  mailer.

This mailer will hit this week in Canton, Ball Ground, Waleska, and Holly Springs.  We broke A LOT of our rules on this mailer but we think it was funny so we went with it.  We have NEVER used pastels, we have NEVER used stock photos, we have NEVER had something as feminine as this but we think the punch line will make DUDES laugh like crazy!!!

Pray as they hit mailboxes this week!!!

No, I am not their pimp and no I do not get a cut but I really believe in the work these guys do.  Early on in our church it was hard for us to get good graphic work done at good prices.  We are actually thinking of hiring a graphic/video person in the near future due to our growth, but until then we use these guys for EVERYTHING!!!

In the past they have balanced the graphic/web design wth “real” jobs, but they informed me this week they are going at it full time.  To me that means even better work and even faster turn around time.

I honesty believe o2 as good graphically and in the web design department as anyone I have ever used or seen.  Their work is GREAT.

The thing I love about them personally is the fact they themselves are planting a church!  Church planters understand church planters.
