I love music. I love concerts. So last night someone hooked me up with Van Halen tickets and I was pretty jacked up. David Lee Roth is back singing for them and I was looking forward to hearing them because like it or not, they are one of the great bands of our time. They way they fight, I figured this might be the last time to get to see them.
So here are some quick hits:
- Roth has still got pipes.
- Roth is a GREAT frontman.
- Eddie is probably one of the great guitar players of all time.
- When you are the guitar player and you play in the center of the stage where the lead singer should be singing, you know you are good.
- The entire band left the stage and Eddie entertained for 15 minutes just playing the guitar. It never got boring.
- No fancy lights, stage, or video. Just loud rock and roll.
- 50/50 mix in age. A lot of over 35 and I lot of under 30.
- They played two hours straight, never talked, never stopped. It was great
- Sound was awful. Eddie’s guitar cut out of the mains probably 4 times, and Roth’s mic fed back twice. If looks could kill, Roth would be in jail for murder.
- Alex Van Halen can kill some drums. He was awesome. I thought we were cool because our drummer plays a double bass. Alex plays with 4 bass drums.
- Wolfgang Van Halen (Eddie’s son) is not good enough to play with them. Obviously he is good, but not ready for the stage yet.
- I think they had his bass track looped because several times he wasn’t playing but the bass was still playing.
- GREAT night!
- They are back next week and I got tickets to go again from my lovely bride. It was so good that I am excited. This time I am going with Tim.
We have named our band MSC (inside joke) and I have been demoted to bass player. I can’t sing, I can’t play drums, and I am only semi-decent on guitar. I have always said the worst job in the band is the bass player (no offense to any bass players who read this) but really all you get to do is stand there and hit a string every now and again. It is easy. However, it is better to be the bass player and be in the band then not be in the band at all.
So at least I am in the band…..barely.
Found out U2 is coming to Canton….in 3D.
Yes, we will be there with the entire staff!
Check it out here.
I am in a big time worship music mode right now. Here is the playlist I have been listening to all day.

I’m a concert junkie and I was thinking of the 5 concerts I want to see in the next few years:
- U2 - I HAVE to see them before I die. I hear their show is off the hook.
- Jack Johnson - Probably my favorite dude right now. His music chills me out and trust me I need to chill out. :) I would imagine his concerts are laid back.
- Lifehouse - I wasn’t a big fan of these guys for a while, but I really dig them now. They put out really good music.
- Allison Krause and Union Station - She is my back-up wife should anything happen to DeAnna so it would probably be good for me to go see her in case we end up married one day.
- Original GnR - I will be this one with Mandy Harrison. I know it is a long shot, but I truly believe they will reunite one day and pull off a monster tour. Hands down, my favorite band of all time.
DeAnna is out Christmas shopping and I am supposed to be cleaning the kitchen, but I had to put my list of jams into a playlist before I could that.
Tonight’s Music:
- No One - Alicia Keys - This is my girl!!! Love her.
- 40 - U2
- If Everyone Cared - Nickelback
- Wire - Third Day
- Storm - Lifehouse
- Jesus Freak - DC Talk - Still love this jam
- Revolutionary Love - David Crowder Band
- I Told You So - Keith Urban
- Love Found Me - DecembeRadio
- When Love Came To Town - U2/BB King
- Baby, it’s cold outside - Ella Fitzgerald - This is my Christmas Jam
- Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton - My jam that reminds me of my wife
Just figured it was time again to list some of the music I am rocking on my iPod. Again, not that you really care but when I look back on my blog, I will see what mood I was in by the music I was rocking.
- Yesterday - GnR
- The Pretender - Foo Fighters
- Into The Night - Santana
- Made To Love - Toby Mac
- Iris - The Goo Goo Dolls
- I told you so - Keith Urban
- Jesus Paid It All - Kristian Stanfill

- Frontline - Pillar
- All For You - Sister Hazel
- Rawkfist - Thousand Foot Krutch

Odd list of music, but that is the mood I am in right now.

It’s overcast outside, the leaves are changing colors, Tim is off, Malcolm is off, and I’m stuck in the office today so it just seems like a day to blast some Lynyrd Skynyrd in the office. Nothing like getting in touch with your inner redneck.
I’m in a 80’s state of mind right now and this is the playlist I have been jamming to the last week (I think this would make Chris Elrod proud):
I will remember you - Skid Row
Livin on a prayer - Bon Jovi
Pour some sugar on me - Def Leppard (ugly rumor this could be played this Sunday)
Sweet Child of Mine - G n R
Heaven - Warrant
Rock of Ages - Def Leppard
To Hell With The Devil - Stryper
Separate Ways - Journey
Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue
Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC
Don’t Know What You Got Till It’s Gone - Cinderella
When The Children Cry - White Lion
I’ll Be There For You - Bon Jovi
Wait - White Lion
Come Sail Away - Styx
Rocket - Def Leppard
Gypsy Road - Cinderella
Close My Eyes Forever - Ozzy
Sister Christian - Night Ranger
I think I am going to wear spandex and grow my hair out for Sunday!!!!
Most of you know I am a music junkie. Along with that comes an addiction to concerts. This month has been concert time at the Lamb house.
DeAnna and I went and saw John Mayer a couple of weeks ago. The dude can flat tear up a guitar. I was actually a little disappointed with this concert. John was solid, but the crowd was not into it, he didn’t play some of his hits, and I just wasn’t digging the vibe too much. Still it was a good concert.
DeAnna went and saw Justin Timberlake with two hellions at the church and she said it was OFF the hook. She said it was the best concert she had ever been too. After hearing her talk about it, I wish I would have went.
Last night DeAnna, two chicks from church (this chick and this chick) and I went and saw Michael Buble. You can’t get any less manly then that. This is going to shock you but the dude was AWESOME! It was a GREAT show. The guy puts is a great entertainer and I had a blast. It was at the Fox Theater and there is NO where better to see a concert then there. I had a great time.
Next Saturday the streak ends with Def Leppard, Styx, and Foreigner. Loud, 80’s hair metal! It is going to be awesome and I’m looking forward to rocking out to some old dudes shredding guitars.
